Hello Marjory, Researching Robert STEEL My father was Robert STEEL SWEENIE born 11 Mar 1909 in Paisley RFW Scotland he was named for one of his father David SWEENIE'S friends from his work days in British West Africa a Robert Bruce STEEL. They were Engineers in a Gold mine there. David SWEENIE died in Paisley 1927 my dad brought us to NZ and died 1997 in NZ , I wish I had talked to him about this name and much more. But I have some of the old photos of the workers out there in British West Africa.. taken I suppose about 1920's, sitting in big cane chairs. Irene in New Zealand.
Oops, sorry I should have said Phyllis Ziajka, referring to Robert STEEL SWEENIE Where is your Robert STEEL from Irene in NZ
