Regret I don't know of any link between my THOM family and McGECHAN. William THOM m. Mary SINCLAIR, 1838, Orkney or Greenock (Mary came from the Orkneys). Had 3 children: - Margaret THOM, chr. 11 Nov 1839, Greenock. - Mary Dunlop THOM, chr. 22 Aug 1841, Greenock, m. James MOWAT (from Glasgow), 4 Jan 1866 in Dunoon, had 8 children (first one and last two born in Dunoon, others born in Glasgow) - William, Eric Sinclair, Mary Sinclair, Jane Fraser, Elizabeth Agnes, James R, Walter S and Cecilia. - Elizabeth THOM, chr. 4 Feb 1844, Greenock, m. Alexander PATERSON, 18 Oct 1866 in Dunoon, had 5 children (all born in Glasgow) - Mary Sinclair, Alexander, Jessie Shaw, Margaret Thom and Agnes J. Currently I have no further information about any members of this family.
