Hi Lynda Since ther are only a samll number of McMurrich on the index for both East and West Renfrew I thought I might as well send the lot The order of things is. Name; age; Parish; District; Book; Page; Line in East Renfrew Agnes; 5; Abbey; 470; 1; 9; 3 Alexander; 14; Paisley; 466; 1; 17; 14 Catherine; 30; Abbey; 470; 1; 9; 2 George; 26; Abbey; 470; 1; 9; 1 Janet; 20; Abbey; 470; 7; 16; 9 Janet W; 1; Abbey; 470; 1; 9; 5 Jean; 3; Abbey; 470; 1; 9; 4 In West Renfrew Ann; 21; Greenock; 440; 83; 8; 15 Catherine; 38; Port Glasgow; 446/1; 11; 12; 2 Catherin; 16l; Port Glasgow; 16; 446/1; 11; 12; 4 George; 67; Houston & Killellen; 447; 5; 4; 1 Hugh; 4; Port Glasgow; 446/1' 11; 12; 8 Jane; 6; Port Glasgow; 446/1; 11; 12; 7 Janet; 57; Houston & Killellen; 447; 5; 4; 2 Jessie; 30; Greenock; 433; 5; 12; 7 John; 18; Houston Killellen; 447; 1; 3; 5 John; 18; Port Glasgow; 446/1; 11; 12; 3 Marion; 11; Houston & Killellen; 447; 5; 4; 3 Mathew; 30; Greenock; 433; 5; 12; 6 Robert; 9; Port Glasgow; 446/1; ; 6 Samuel; 48; Port Glasgow; 446/1; 11; 12; 1 Samuel; 1; Port Glasgow; 446/1; 11; ; 9 Thomas D; 2; Greenock; 433; 5; 12; 8 William; 12; Port Glasgow; 446/1; 11; 12; 5 As you will see your couple do not appear to be there although if you have the DoB of the children you may be able to work out if any of these others are related. The fact that they married in H & K and Robert died there may only mean that he returned home for his death. Have you got the death certifictate? I can't, of course vouch for the accuracy of the index. However, I did get this from the Glasgow & West of Scotland FHS, so I should think it would be OK. I have also the 1861 for East Ayshire but there are no McMurrich's at all. It might be worth trying Lanarkshire, particularly Glasgow, as it is not that far away for work. Kind regards Mike
Hi Mike Thanks again for looking, sorry to lead you a dance. I do recognise some of the McMurrichs one is Robert's brother and some his nieces and nephews. Yes, you are obviously right, they probably moved away from Houston after the last child was born in 1842, and he returned after the census and died there. I don't have his birth certificate, I looked his death up on the Government site and saw the record in the Stat Register. Thanks anyway Lynda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Dowding" <m.dowding@virgin.net> To: <SCT-RENFREW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 08, 2003 9:24 AM Subject: Re: [Renfrew] 1841/1851 census renfrew McMurrich > Hi Lynda > Since ther are only a samll number of McMurrich on the index for both East > and West Renfrew I thought I might as well send the lot > The order of things is.
