Northern Americans, and I thought it was only USAmericans, but obviously CANADIANS have no idea either WHERE SCOTLAND IS!!! ........ they think ONLY of their region .....closed minds ...... what IF every time we Aussies heard "New England" we thought of England, or ... hell, there must be hundreds of towns named after our ancestors townships. As IF you were ponderring where your ancestors were buried ...... SCOTLAND is NOT any where near Canada or the bloody US of A. Greenock in CANADA? Hey this was in the Renfrew (Scottish) List ..... are some people that STUPID? I am SO GLAD that my Scottish ancestors decided to come to Australia ..... in 1856 This stupidity with SOME listers is unforgivable. Regardless of how old you are........ USA is NOT the centre of the Earth ..... these Lists are for people researching their SCOTTISH heritage!!!!! I have been deleting lots of emails about RELIGION ....... USA versus Scotland and all that stuff ...... what is "normal" in the US of A in 2003 has NOTHING to do with what was the normal, average, religion in, say 1800 or before that in Scotland....... the USA has so many "made up" religions ..... buy which ever you want LOL Supermarket religion LOL Presbyterian, which I relate to better than anything else is SCOTTISH ...no kneeling, no "catholic" (or if you wish anglican) waving of things or Priests, etc) .... haven't had the monthly Communion in maybe 30 years! Remember that "heaven" is not just a christian thing .... those muslims, and others, will be up there with YOU ..... they believe in the SAME heaven and the SAME God who created The World .... they just have a different way of teaching and a book (bible) of the scriptures that is in Arabic or Itlalian!. IF you believe that GOD who supposedly "created the world in 7 days" was ONLY Christian ..... you are kidding yourselves. Jesus was a JEW, remember? I don't believe the "New Testament" any more than I would the "Old Testament" .... Old Men's Tales .......and you all know how males "embellish" their stories. IF you have SCOTTISH connections, BE very GRATEFUL that you do. They left their homeland, some as sailors to seek their fortune in the Gold Fields,. which most didn't .... they brought out their wives or lovers and THEY were the the people who made countries like AUSTRALIA what it is today ...... those women who followed their Scottish men, Scottish PRIDE ..... the "faith" never came down to me ......but the proudness did. My Scottish connections migrated here to Australia in the 1850's ..... so I am a 3rd Generation Aussie ...... religion had no say in anything ..... but PRIDE had an awful lot to do with my upbringing and how I raised my own child. 1. [Renfrew] RE: Janelle's Greenock Cemetery
    2. April Dice
    3. Janelle, Actually, in reading the very first inquiry for "Cemeteries in Greenock", I found the request to be very open-ended as it was for "all" Greenock Cemeteries and, thus, Maggie's reply fit the request. You signed your email "Be happy." I hope that you can be happy in your life and that you also may choose to do, say and type things that truly encourage happiness in others' lives as well. For, especially if you do not believe in a higher power, the responsibility of easing the cares of life for ourselves and others rests squarely upon the shoulders of each one of us. Presbyterian "rules" ..... ?? Do unto others ....... ? NOT get what you can? I don't know a great deal about the Scottish who went to NORTH America ....... maybe they just were after EASY MONEY? They certainly weren't the PIONEERS who migrated to Australia ........ a totally different attitutude. 3. Hasn't this 'flaming' theme gone on long enough? - It's not advancing anybody's knowledge of Renfrew genealogy. It wouldn't be so bad if people snipped messages - instead of repeating yards and yards of them in every reply. Brian

    3. Janelle is way out of line here. For someone who deletes religion items from her list seems to be more bitter than some of the most bitter in the world. It is a shame that manners, and how to treat others were never passed on to you. There is a difference between pride and conceit look it up. Susanne Turcotte Ontario Canada
