Hello List Were all the Scottish census taken on the same days as the English census? If not could some kind person tell me the dates they were taken? Mary, AS far as I know the census dates were the same on both sides of Hadrian's Wall because the instruction came from a UK piece of legislation even though the actual birth, death and marriage records in Scotland and England & Wales vary both when they started 1855 for Scotland 1837 for England & Wales and in their contents. I am sure if someone else knows to the contrary I will quite properly be corrected.
