Is anyone researching George Shier, son of Robert Shier and Elizabeth Parker? George was born in Edinburgh C1804. His parents were married 06-01-1803 - Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. Source: FamilySearch on-line. Their name spelt Shear on this record. George married Elizabeth McArthur 29-08-1830 at Glasgow. I am trying to establish a link between George and my gg-grandfather John Shier. I think John Shier's father might have been Robert Shier. On the 1841 Census a Robert Shier aged 55 years was living at the same address as my gg-grandmother Susan Shier (wife of John) no sign of John, so he had probably passed away by 1841. I think Robert might have been Susan's father-in-law as he was 20 years older than her on the Census record. John, Robert and George were all Iron Moulders.
