Thanks Jeanette I found Hawkwead in the Houstoun area oops mispelt it again. My gg grand-father Robert Stewart was a school teacher and i am trying to locate his birth abt 1806, he was buiried in Johnstone kirkyard and i found no headstone this is kind of the last straw to find him via the Paisley directories. He died 1856 and taught at the Sabbath school Cartside,Johnstone in 1841/2 no trace of him on the Scotlands peoples site or the old Scots Origins. cheers Bill ======================================== Message Received: Jul 19 2006, 10:53 PM From: "J.M.de Montalk" To: [email protected] Cc: Subject: Re: [Renfrew] places Dear Bill, What did you want to know about them? I can tell you that Hawkwead should probably be Hawkhead, and a lot of land around Barrhead was originally owned by Lord Ross of Hawkhead, including the mill which my Dunlop ancestors worked. Later through marriage it passed into the ownership of the Earls of Glasgow. Have you tried a Google search? There's quite a lot of information. Regards, Jeanette. ----- Original Message ----- From: "william baxter" To: Sent: Thursday, July 20, 2006 4:21 AM Subject: [Renfrew] places > Hi > Can anyone help me with these places taken from 1830"s Directories of > Paisley and surrounding area"s. > 1) Barrhead Seminary,Barrhead. > 2) Hawkwead, Houstoun. > 3) Hardgate, Houstoun. > cheers > Bill. > >
