    1. Re: [Renfrew] Lost Greenock FERGUSON family?
    2. Angus Ferguson
    3. Brilliant Jack! It is them. They do not however appear on SP; normal, wildcard or any other type of search! I believe that there are some poorly scanned images of the 1851 that SP has not released, so may be this is one of them? May I ask you how and where you found them? My certainty is simple. All the ages are correct, although David is a new addition! Also, another Greenock branch of the family named a child Thomas Murray FERGUSON in 1846; until now, I never knew the source of this name. Thomas married Jean in Greenock in January 1843; Jean used her maiden name of 'RUSSELL' rather than her married name. As yet, I cannot find David's birth. I'm also curious why he is enumerated as FERGUSON in 1851, when he was clearly born at around the same time as his mother's marriage to Thomas MURRAY. If his father wasn't a FERGUSON as seems likely, then the convention was to take the name of the mother's new spouse, even if he wasn't the father. Again Jack....Thank you.
