Dear Listers, I am new to this list and am looking for anyone on the list who may have a connection to my great-great uncle, JAMES MCINTYRE b: 1830 in Kilchoman Parish, Islay, Argyll. James' parents were DONALD MACINTYRE, shepherd and MARY MCEWEN of Kilchoman, Islay. In 1860, James married ISABELLA MCCALL b: abt 1828 Glenorchy, Argll in Milton District, Burgh of Glasgow. Isabella's parents were JOHN MCCALL, gardner and ANN SINCLAIR. James and Isabella were living at 14 Charlotte St., Port Dundow, Glasgow at the time of their marriage and James was a carter. On the 1861 census, James and Isabella were living at 24 Canal St, Barony Parish and James was a coal carter. In 1863, they have their only child, son, NEIL MCINTYRE in the District of Milton, Glasgow, Renfrew. On the 1871 census, they were living at 38 Society Rd, Maryhill Parish, St. Georges in the Fields, Glasgow and James was now a carter foreman. On the 1881, James, Isabella and Neil, now 17, are living at Cotters House, Bardrain Farm, Kilmalcolm, Renfrew where James is a ploughman and son, Neil is a farm servant. This family disappears after 1881 so there is a good possibility they may have immigrated outside Scotland as they seemed to stay in the Milton District area for over 20 years. I would appreciate any further information anyone might have on this MCINTYRE family or any history on Bardrain Farm.
