Hello, How can I get this site to work? I type in most of the required information but nothing happens. The census that I want to find is in Dunbartonshire. Also, I want the use the "all" for census to find where a family might be living? That doesn't seem to work for me. What am I doing wrong? Across the globe many thousands of hours are being donated by volunteers to bring the 19th century census data to everyone for free. Please see the Renfrewshire Free Census Project website at www.freewebs.com/renfrewcensus, or any of the others counties in Scotland, England or Wales, for more information. This is a very worthwhile volunteer project and it is disappointing to the hard-working volunteers to see inaccurate information being carelessly propagated. I am immensely proud of the results the Renfrewshire team have achieved so far. There's always room for more volunteers! Jim Baird FreeCEN Coordinator for Renfrewshire [email protected] www.freewebs.com/renfrewcensus YOU can make a difference!
Hello all, I was reading several messages re: what is or is not available on the FreeCen site. Here is a link which will allow you to view the status of the various Scotland counties. http://www.freewebs.com/mmjeffery/index.htm Dunbarton was mentioned in some posts - if you click on the above link, and then click on Dunbarton, you will see the status. If you take a moment to read the page on the above link and any of the county links, you will see volunteers are needed. If you have an interest in the census for a particular area, and someone is needed to volunteer...perhaps you would consider helping out. I'm sure the county coordinators would be more than happy to get someone with some free time. After all, what you transcribe may not only help you, but will help countless others in the future. As previously mentioned, numerous volunteers all over the world are working on this project for the benefit of all. Instead of complaining about things not being done fast enough, perhaps pitching in to become part of the solution will be more productive. Enough said...hope I did not offend anyone...certainly not my intention. Now...I better get back to transcribing or my county coordinator will "fire" me.
