Lucille ~ You might find this book enlightening: "Born Fighting, How the Scots-Irish Shaped America" by James Webb. If I remember correctly, he is descended from this Gen. Cochran you mention below. I have read several historical accounts of why the Scots went to Ulster. Webb's account is first rate. I have several Cochron's They are: Cochron, John married Elizabeth Young, their children were: John, 1732, Elizabeth 1736, Margrat, 1739, married John Barr,b.1736 in June 1759, Their children were: Matthew b. 1760, Robert Oct 1764, Jean 1767, Margaret 1768, Janet May 1772, and John 1775. Margaret married John Taylor 24 April 1790. I got my information from the Morman Church Records.I'm wondering if any of these people tie into your Cochrans?
