Hi Janet, The Free Census Project is a "work in progress" and, as explained on the website at http://www.freecen.org.uk/, you will need to refer to the Statistics page (http://www.freecen.org.uk/statistics.html) to see whether the records you need have yet been transcribed and uploaded. There are currently no FreeCEN records on-line for Dunbartonshire. For a more detailed view of current progress you may wish to look at the county page for Dunbartonshire at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~scotnet/FreeCEN/DNB/. All the Scottish counties websites are listed at http://www.freewebs.com/mmjeffery/index.htm A sure way of hastening the process is to become a volunteer (as many subscribers to this list have already done - thank you all!). All you need is a PC with a spreadsheet program and a CD-ROM drive. If you can't wait, and don't mind paying, the 1841 to 1901 census records are also available to view at the official government website, http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/.
