Hi Johan, That's wonderful! Thanks so much for the info. Robert's wife was Elizabeth Topping(s), so I'm guessing the Lappings is a mistranscription. I'm really pleased to see an Irish connection as the only entry that fits for Robert in the 1841 census is this one in Neilston: Cross Arthurlie Village COOK John M 35 Calico Printer Ireland COOK Margaret F 35 Ireland COOK Elizabeth F 15 Bleacher Ireland COOK Mary F 13 Bleacher Ireland COOK Robert M 11 Ireland COOK William M 8 Ireland and I know he was born in Paisley in 1829. But the parents' names are right plus the age of his sister Mary Ann, so I'm guessing that the transcriber put Ireland for all the children when it only applied to the parents. :-) Also Robert's death certificate says he was married in Ireland, when the IGI shows a marriage on 11 Oct 1848 in Abbey Paisley. You've been a great help! Regards Jan >Hello Jan, >Happy to be able to let you know that Line 5 is Jean Lappings, mother-in-law, widow age 53, domestic srvant, born Ireland. >Also in the household is a John Malcolm, agricultural Labour, age illegible, born Ireland. >Regards >Johan Lochridge
