Hi all, I've just joined this list after discovering my COOK family living in Abbey Paisley in the 1840s and 1850s. They emigrated to Tasmania in 1855. I've been sent this entry from the 1851 census index: Abbey, ward 474,enum 22,Page 4, Lines 1-4 Robert Cook aged 24 Elizabeth Cook aged 26 Robert aged 3 Jean aged 1 and Abbey, ward 474,enum 22,Page 4, Line 6 John Cook aged 8 I'm pretty sure that John is Robert's younger brother born 1829 Paisley (which probably means his parents have died). Does anyone have the census who could see who is on Line 5 (ward 474,enum 22,Page 4)please? It can't be a COOK as they would have shown up in the index. Many thanks Jan Qld Australia

Hello Jan, Happy to be able to let you know that Line 5 is Jean Lappings, mother-in-law, widow age 53, domestic srvant, born Ireland. Also in the household is a John Malcolm, agricultural Labour, age illegible, born Ireland.
