Hello, My ancestor, John Webb, is listed in the 1841 Census as a general dealer living in Shaw St, Greenock. His wife, Susan, and three children James, Elizabeth and Catherine, aren't listed because that year they sailed (without him) for Port Phillip (now Melbourne) Australia on the ship Ariadne. John Webb isn't listed in the 1851 Census at Greenock. I wonder if he died. I think he was Catholic. Does anyone have access to death or burial records for the 1840s and 1850s for Greenock and could they do a look-up for me? John Webb is often listed as a poulterer.
