Diane, The Robert Templeton, ae 20 years at 34 Glen St., Mearns, did you notice where his nativity was? The reason I'm asking is that on the 1841 census (if it is the same guy) he is listed as being born in Renfrewshire. I found a Robert Templeton ae 50 on the 1881 census, so the age matches, but he lists his place of nativity as Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Kilmarnock is where the family I'm looking for were from, so maybe he didn't realize where he was b. Donna, I don't know where Robert & Sarah were b. I'm asuming they were from Kilmarnock, but can't be certain. On the 1841 census Robert is listed as nativity unknown, and Sarah is outside county, which could mean Ayrshire. This is one of the reasons I was looking for them on the 1851 census. If this Robert who is in Mearns on the 1851 and in Abbey (see below) on the 1881 cenus, is their son, and Mary Sillars Templeton who is their dau. m. in Kilmarnock in 1853, who knows what became of the rest of the family.
