    3. Not sure if this helps but if you go to the statistical account for scotland at http://edina.ac.uk/statacc/ type in Ardrossan or Greenock, have a read. You should learn a lot. In the 1791-99 shows 290 people in the Parish of Ardrossan. For a map circa 1811 see http://www.old-maps.co.uk/IndexMapPage2.aspx The greenock 1864 map shows a road. There may be older maps at http://www.nls.uk/maps/index.html which is searchable and near the bottom of page is The road from Greenock to Irvine and Ayr; the Road from Dumbarton ...... 1760-1788. Title: The road from Greenock to Irvine and Ayr; the Road from Dumbartonto Row Kirk and Portencaple. Imprint: [London : sn],1776. ... Hope above helps John > > Thank you to Nivard, Eva and Johan for your assistance with my query regarding the distance between Greenock, Renfrewshire and Ardrossan, Ayrshire. I now know that my great-great-grandparents could either travel by boat along the shore, or even walk that distance! I live in Canada and had no idea what the mileage was between the two places.> Your help is very much appreciated! Thank you everyone.> > _________________________________________________________________ Catch up on all the latest celebrity gossip http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/115454061/direct/01/
