Hi Eva, I have examined a microfilm of the original census document and the person located at the reference you gave and reported by Ancestry.com as "Lean" is actually: John MCKINLAY, Son, Male, Age 8, Scholar, Born Greenock, Renfrewshire. Present also are: Edward MCKINLAY, Head, Male, Married, Age 49, Sugar House Lab, Born Ireland Mary MCKINLAY, Wife, Female, Married, Age 49, Born Ireland. Margaret MCKINLAY, Daughter, Female, Age 6, Born Gateside, Ayrshire. Samuel HAMES(?), Boarder, Male, Age 40, Tan Work Lab, Born Ireland Margaret's birthplace, Gateside, is not far from Beith. The FreeCEN transcription of 1861 Greenock West is not sufficiently far advanced to enable a lookup for Jane HALL.
