    3. I was just at the Bourock church and at the bottom of the sign it says "Barrhead"  on it.  Actually it has information for "Barrhead Church Youth Alpha" on the sign, but it's currently the Bourock Church, Church of Scotland.  T here are some pretty old stones in the churchyard as well.  Have left the area now, darn it, or I would have looked for you.  Carol dunford "The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. I am also excluding Neilston and Levern which I am sure would not have been described as Barrhead. Jane, (sister og my gggrandfather)?was married to William Ferguson, born Kilbride abt 1825.? They had 4 children Janet b 1849, Mary b 1851, Robert b 1854 and Jean b 1855.? 3. There was another Church east of the Bourock Church on Main Street at Water Row - roughly where the medical centre and Sports centre are today. Old maps seem to indicate a churchyard as well. I vaguely remember some controversy when they built the Sports centre. If you look at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html and bring up the 1938 map of Barrhead the building and outline of some form of yard can still be seen.
