I am researching my caldwell's who originated in "renfrew" but not having much luck, I know they went to ireland early 1700's but having no luck there, so decided to put the cart before the horse and try to maybe learn more about the history of "refrew" , any advice or if anyone can pass on some on-line resources or reference would be most apprreciated. thanks, Teresa Caldwell
Hi there, Mary Caldwell born c1770 give or take 20yrs, married George Blackwood c 1790 give or take 20 lived for much of the 1800's on Kibleston Farm, Kilbarchan, and Renfrewshire. They were my GG Grandparents and I am in Australia. I have, tod date been chasing the Blackwood side I have no further Caldwell knowledge however, I do know that we have (as a family) continued to carry the name Caldwell forward. I will look a little further and see just what I come up with.
