Many thanks to all who replied re my query. From all the information given to me I can now say that James Allan McMillan did marry again to Margaret Campbell in 1850 in Gorbals, Lanark. I had only looked at the Paisley census index so had missed that. I now know that James McMillan died 1888 Paisley, - and his new wife Margaret (Campbell) McMillan died 1886 Paisley. children born to them in Paisley - Jessie b. 1856, James 1857, and Ann b. 1859. James death certificate has the informant as Robert Waddell as son in law, so no idea who he marries. Had a look on the IGI but could not see it. I really appreciate so much all the help given as it has given me so much more information. Just one query - can you look this up on Ancestry or did you go to another source. Colleen, I looked at the Scottish Census on Ancestry to see if I could find a Robert WADDELL married to one of the daughters and nothing showed. I then did a search for a marriage on Scotlands People for a Robert WADDELL to a McMillan and there was one match. I have run out of credits so could not see who it was. If you register and buy 30 credits it will cost you 6GBP converted to NZ is $12-74.
