Hello Sharon I had a look at the (image of) marriage registration on Scotlands People and Elizabeth was of the parish of Houston and Killelan, Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire. I found a family in the 1841 Census living in Houston and Killelan, which might include your Elizabeth. John COCHRAN, 40, agricultural labourer, born Ireland Mary Cochran, 40, born Ireland Elizabeth COCHRAN, 15, servant, born Ireland Jane Cochran, 14, cotton worker, born Ireland Ann Cochran, 12, cotton worker, born Ireland John Cochran, 10, cotton worker, born Ireland Mary Cochran, 8, born Ireland James Cochran, 3, born Ireland (There are no 'relationships' in the 1841 Census and the ages of adults - 15 and over - were rounded down to the nearest unit of 5. So Elizabeth could have been aged from 15 to 19. But I think you can assume that this is a family unit and that they had recently arrived from Ireland). Hello Rhoda, Thanks so much for your efforts on my behalf. Unfortunately, I have ruled out the family you listed. My Elizabeth stated in the 1861 Dalry census that she was born in "Renfrewshire Johnstone" and was 36 yo. I also learned that her mother was Jennie Paterson, but have not been able to document that. Thanks again, Sharon --- On Fri, 6/18/10, CandROverson <overson12@btinternet.com> wrote: From: CandROverson <overson12@btinternet.com> Subject: Re: [SCT-RENFREW] Young and Cochrane To: sct-renfrew@rootsweb.com Date: Friday, June 18, 2010, 6:54 AM Hello Sharon I had a look at the (image of) marriage registration on Scotlands People and Elizabeth was of the parish of Houston and Killelan, Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire.
