    3. Hi Sharon I will send you the image of the marriage registration offlist. This shows that at the time of her marriage in 1846, Elizabeth was of the parish of Houston and Killelan. It doesn't mean that she was born there. Houston is not all that far away from the town of Johnstone. The Elizabeth in the 1841 Census in Houston was born between 1822 and 1826. Your Elizabeth in the Dalry census was born c 1825. It was not unknown for people of Irish origin to deny their Irish roots in censuses. There was such a huge influx of Irish immigration in the 1840s and 1850s that they weren't too popular with the resident Scottish population. One of my Great Grandfathers appears in different times in the Kilbarchan censuses as born Ireland or born Lochwinnoch. I have no idea which is correct. Unfortunately, I have ruled out the family you listed. My Elizabeth stated in the 1861 Dalry census that she was born in "Renfrewshire Johnstone" and was 36 yo. I also learned that her mother was Jennie Paterson, but have not been able to document that. Thanks again, Sharon --- On Fri, 6/18/10, CandROverson <overson12@btinternet.com> wrote:
