    1. [SCT-RENFREW] BOAG/BOOG, FULTON, CRAIG, JAMIESON
    2. Kate Dostalek
    3. My interest in the BOOGs or BOAGs of Abbey (Paisley), and FULTON (of Eaglesham), CRAIG, JAMIESON (of Eaglesham) and YOUNG: Robert BOOG (abt. 1756) married Mary Fulton (Abt. 1760) in 1781. I don't know anything about the parents of Robert and Mary, or where they are from. Robert BOOG may have been a Reverend, if I have looked at the right marriage thing. Robert BOOG and Mary FULTON's children, as far as I can work out: Robert (1781), William (1783), Andrew (1785), John (1788), Mary (1790), Alexander (1792) and James (1795). James BOOG married Ann CRAIG in 1817. I have nothing so far on Ann CRAIG so if the name rings a bell...... Children: Jean (?Abt. 1820), Margaret (?Abt. 1820), Ann (1824), Eliza (1826), James (1829), Mary (1831), Robert (1833) and John (1840). Mary BOAG married John JAMIESON in 1856. John JAMIESON is from St Mungo, Dumfries. Mary and John went to Ireland for a bit and then came to Australia in 1862. John BOAG was also thought to have come to Australia. I know that Robert married Janet BARTLEMORE and had a daughter Agnes. John JAMIESON's mother is also a Mary FULTON (abt 1797) and his father George JAMIESON (abt 1791). In the 1851 Census, both George and Mary JAMIESON list their place of birth as Eaglesham, Renfrew, and they married in 1814 in Eaglesham. According to Mary JAMIESON's death reg in 1882, her parents are John FULTON (he was a farmer) and Mary YOUNG. George JAMIESON may have died between 1851 and 1855 because I can't locate him on ScotlandsPeople. Because I live in Tasmania, Australia, and if I tell people that I have a James Boag as an ancestor, I have to go on to explain that it's not THE James BOAG of the beer fame, (I think that James Boag was also from Paisley), though I'm not being biased when I drink Boag's Beer! If any of the names mean anything I'd appreciate your assistance. I'm wanting to get back to my Renfrew tree. Thanks Kate

    3. Hello Sandra How much do you already know about the family? This is unclear from your message, so maybe you already have the information I have found. My apologies if so. You mention the girls' marriages, but have you found the family in the census yet? If not - and no guarantees, of course, as you would need to check yourself, but - it looks like they were at George Street in Paisley in 1891. You mention three children, but on this record there appears to be another son, George, as well. Albert HODGSON 45 bobbin turner Mary HODGSON 42 Clare Jane 16 Flora Ann 15 Frederick W 11 George E 13, presser in a printing office all born England. By 1901, Albert has died and the family are at Wood Pl King Street Paisley, Mary, 51, Fred 21 hairdresser and George E 24 Grocer's clerk. Albert in 1896, (parents Thomas Hodgson journeyman wood turner & Maryann Rushforth) and Mary (parents George Hyatt lab & Ann Jones) in 1911 and George seems to marry Annie Cameron Brown (the girl next door from George St, or nearly) in 1902, by which time he is a threadmill clerk. Records for all three events can be found on Scotland's People. Unfortunately, I've found no more sign of Frederick up to now. Maybe he returned to England. 3. Dear Eva I was able to obtain 19th century patient records for Govan Parochial Lunatic Asylum from the NHS (National Health Service) Greater Glasgow and Clyde Board Archives. www.archives.gla.ac.uk/gghb You need to complete a form on site in order to request the records. I don't know if the Paisley area will be covered by these archives, but, if not, they may be able to advise you. And don't expect too much. In my case they were able to give me a short account of why and when my two patients had been admitted to the Asylum but no patient case notes survived before about 1895. 2. Jenelle McCarrick
    3. If you have any ancestors that came to Queensland - well for a few days free search for Queensland electoral rolls through world vital records. Click below link, go almost to the bottom of the page, see Queensland electoral rolls, (take no notice of the word census - there isn't any), do a surname search. Jenelle. There is free searching of commonwealth electoral rolls for a few days. http://www.worldvitalrecords.com/contentsearch.aspx?p=Australia&let=Q No virus found in this incoming message.
