    3. On the subject of McLELLANs, I have some who are 'missing' from Kilbirnie (AYR) & Lochwinnoch (RFW) areas. Robert McLELLAN m Janet McLACHLAN (McGlaughan & var) in 1853 in Kilbirnie. Robert died in 1863. Janet died 1886. Issue: John 1854, James abt 1856, Isabella 1857-1885, Dugald Robert (Robert) 1860-1887, Margaret 1861, Jean 1863. John was a woollen mill worker at Beith in 1871. Was he a ships steward living at Hope Terrace, West Ham in 1881?James was at Calder St, Lochwinnoch with his mother in 1871. Where after that? Possibly a traveller draper at Wigan in Lancashire in 1881.Margaret after 1871?Jean is probably the Janet McLELLAN with the family of Alex REID & family in Devon in 1881. I cannot find her after that. I would be grateful for any information re links to these family members. Anne Maye

I am also searching for Braehead in Beith nearby in Renfrew. I think it is a street but cannot find it on a map.  It was given as the birthplace of the above Isabella's brother John in 1854. 2. Thank you, Rhoda. Seems likely, doesn't it? Clare Clair I associate it with the hymn which starts "By cool Siloam's [not Siloah's] shady rill". Perhaps her parents liked the hymn. Siloah appears to be an alternative version of Siloam (according to something I saw by Googling the name]. Rhoda

The 1955 Graduating Class of West Senior High School in Pawtucket is attempting too locate a member of this PAYNE family. Her name is Lillian PAYNE born 7 OCT 1937 in Sailcoat, Scotland. She also had a younger brother David Payne born about 1941. Their father was William H. Payne, shipwright, born about 1911 in Scotland. His wife was about 5 years older than William and her given name was Elizabeth. The only reliable lead we have to date is that during a visit to Scotland, Lillian Payne gave and address as 24 Orchard Park Ave, Giffnock, Renfrewshire. As we are unfamiliar with the best method to find Lillian in order to send her a reunion invitation, it would be helpful if someone on this list could offer a suggestion. 3. Hi Graham, Yes, the Chopin visit is an interesting episode in the history of the castle! A bit sad though, because he was or became ill during his stay... As for delays in selling property, perhaps it appreciated in value during that interval? Have written to the Johnstone Learning Centre to find about obtaining a couple of works of local history. Hope to hear something soon. Carolyn On 4-Apr-10, at 7:41 AM, grfm@optusnet.com.au wrote: > Hi Carolyn, > My conection with the Houston family is a very minor one.
