Teresa, I have now located some further information; see if any of this is of use. Mary Caldwell, daughter of John and Mary or Margaret nee Ritchie Born C1794 Mary married Robert Blackwood 1812, they had many children including Robert who was born in 1824 and travelled to Australia in 1860 and married May Leys in 1864 - they were my maternal Grandparents. Mary and George lived at Kibbleston Farm, Kilbarchan, Renfrew for the major portion of the 1800's. Does any of this help? I do hope so. With these Greenock newspaper archives i am presuming that what is found is not the full article on a certain event ?? eg the death of Alexander McLEOD 1884 ( i think ) In other words is there a more in depth article somewhere on a particular event such a birth , death or marriage ?? I have been researching Munros in Paisley for many years. I have recorded an Alexander Munro b. 7 July 1859 and died 8 August 1859 at 31 Orchard Street, Paisley. He was son of John Munro (dyer) foreman and Agnes Munro M.S. McElwham. I do not know if they are part of the Munro family I am searching for, but have been unable to see a marriage for them. I am wondering what other spelling could there be for McElwham? Any ideas? I am trying to see who John Munro's parents are. Thanks Colleen
Hi Colleen, The commonest spelling today seems to be McIlwham.
