Hello Wilma, Can only help on Barr Street - it is now called Barr PLACE, which is as near as to where the original Street was - might even be same. All the old buildings in that area were knocked down in the 1950s / early 60s, and new housing built on the land. Hi Wilma, You might find this of interest:- From GENUKI Family History News Rob@galethompson.freeserve.co.uk If you have a spare certificate that is of no use to you at all then you can either send me the details via email, or send me the certificate. If the certificate is sent to me then it will be sent on to any enquiries. After six months if nobody has claimed the certificates as interesting to their research then they will be deposited at the SoG library. I will however keep all the details of the certificate on file and pass them on to any relevant one name studies registered with the Guild of One Name Studies. The address for spare certificates to be sent to is: GFHN, 66 Northern Road, Aylesbury, HP19 9QY HTH Brian ----- Original Message ----- From: <claymore@execulink.com> To: <SCT-RENFREW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2003 4:10 PM Subject: [Renfrew] RE: EXTRA DEATHS > Hi, > I have some extra Death certificates for Paisley, Renfrewshire. > > 1899 > *Mary McNeil widow of Donald McNeil - Blockcutter (mine) > David Shaw - single Age 3 > William Duncan McKenzie - single - Age 21 - Threadmill Clerk > > 1910 > Alexander McHattie - single - age 19 > Robert McNeil - Iron riveter - married to 1.Annie Allison 2.Jessie Dickson > Walter Cathcart - Age 2 days > > * I found Mary living at 4 Barr Street, Paisley. Hi, Catriona! Actually, John Holmes, born considerably earlier than 1900, was born at Cloak, so there must be have another home there. Either that, or they are indicating that it is an "area" of sorts. There must be some history. I'll contact the webmaster of the site you sent me and find out if they know. Thanks for the info, though! Lois, I don't really know too much at all, and will get back to you. The information on the streets was taken from an excellent 1839 copy of "Plan of Paisley and its Environs" purchased from Paisley Museum. It measures about 34" x 24" and does give some fairly good detail. Offhand i'd say very many in that area were associated with weaving in some way - certainly almost all of mine who lived around George St. about that time were.
