Thank you Susanne. Very well put. Marie Spears
As Benjamin Franklin said "Many have quarrelled about religion who have never practised it."
Janelle is way out of line here. For someone who deletes religion items from her list seems to be more bitter than some of the most bitter in the world. It is a shame that manners, and how to treat others were never passed on to you. There is a difference between pride and conceit look it up. Susanne Turcotte Ontario Canada
Janelle, Actually, in reading the very first inquiry for "Cemeteries in Greenock", I found the request to be very open-ended as it was for "all" Greenock Cemeteries and, thus, Maggie's reply fit the request. You signed your email "Be happy." I hope that you can be happy in your life and that you also may choose to do, say and type things that truly encourage happiness in others' lives as well. For, especially if you do not believe in a higher power, the responsibility of easing the cares of life for ourselves and others rests squarely upon the shoulders of each one of us. Thank you Maggie for your reply. However I am looking for information in Scotland. Would once again like to ask if someone knows the address of the Greenock Cemetery in Renfrew Scotland. James Molloy/Malloy died at 5 Smiths Lane in Middle Greenock Jan 9, 1880. Also hoping that someone may be able to check records older than 1880 for a Bernard Molloy married to an Ann Burns Molloy. Hi Margaret I have the same problem with my common surnames; James MCINTOSH(45) and Christina MUNRO (15 according to 1841 census!)were married in 1840 in Abbey, were in the 1841 census living in Faldside in Renfrew with a Peter McIntosh which may be Jame's father according to his approx age (70), had their daughter Marion the month before they too sailed to New Zealand on the Duchess of Argyle in June 1842. According to the census none were born in Renfrew- so I have also hit the brick wall :o( Donna Aitken Auckland ----- Original Message ----- From: "Margaret Given" <margaretg@paradise.net.nz> To: <SCT-RENFREW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: June 08, 2003 3:23 PM Subject: [Renfrew] Ancestors > In the 1841 census of Paisley Robert Andrew and wife Mary were living at 90 Cannel St with children James,Robert, Margaret and William. Hi All , I recently transcribed three En Districts for Larkhall in Lanark ( 1891 ) if you would care to go to my home page below and click on the link to the Larkhall transcription ( over 3,000 entries ) you will notice quite a number of families from Renfrew. If anyone finds family I'd love to hear back , I can also link surnames to web sites if anyone finds a relie and wants a link . I kept the index to Surname / Christian Name / Age and Place of Birth . To transcribe the data in it's entirety would have taken a year or more . The Index will be useful as an aid when it comes to ordering the full extract from PRO, Cheers Angela BANKIER FAMILY WEB SITE http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/~palmtreeqld The Scottish Gaelic Association of Australia http://www.ozgaelic.org/

Hello Listers, Can someone tell me if this a valid street in Paisley c.1901........."46 Kilnside Rd". The info was taken from the 1901 Census, I did check maps but was unable to find it. TIA. Jim.
Could someone please help me with the address to Greenock Cemetery? I was fortunate enough to have a gentleman send it to me but have somehow lost the letter. Looking to see if a James Malloy/Molloy is buried there. Records show that he died at age 44 in Middle Greenock, County Renfrew on Jan 9,1880 married to Margaret Gillespie Malloy. Also if anyone can help me with a look up of his parents in a census I would appreciate it. Bernard Molloy and Ann Burns. Hi Mike, Thanks for checking on this JAAP family. I suspect the Robert you found will be connected somehow. I don't know too much about collateral lines yet - my ancestor was Elizabeth JAAP. She was the dau of Robert and Honora. Elizabeth JAAP married James SMITH in 1833 in Paisley. They forgot to record the births of their children. :-) If I can reciprocate with British Columbia lookups let me know. Win MacKenzie >Hi Win >I can't find a Robert or Nora or Honorah on the 1851 of the right age. >There is a Robert aged 38in Paisley District 463 Book 20 Page 18 Line 11 >with him are >George aged 2 line 15 >Janet aged 1line 16 >Jean aged 4 line 14 >Jean aged 38 line 12 >Matthew aged 9 line 13 > >Mike >
In the 1841 census of Paisley Robert Andrew and wife Mary were living at 90 Cannel St with children James,Robert, Margaret and William. The parents were listed as Irish. They were weavers and had married in 1828 in the Low church. in Paisley. Would there have been any relatives living near by? In June 1842 the family sailed in the 'Duchess of Argyle" to Auckland, New Zealand. I think I have hit the proverbial brick wall! Margaret
Hi Mike Thanks again for looking, sorry to lead you a dance. I do recognise some of the McMurrichs one is Robert's brother and some his nieces and nephews. Yes, you are obviously right, they probably moved away from Houston after the last child was born in 1842, and he returned after the census and died there. I don't have his birth certificate, I looked his death up on the Government site and saw the record in the Stat Register. Thanks anyway Lynda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Dowding" <m.dowding@virgin.net> To: <SCT-RENFREW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 08, 2003 9:24 AM Subject: Re: [Renfrew] 1841/1851 census renfrew McMurrich > Hi Lynda > Since ther are only a samll number of McMurrich on the index for both East > and West Renfrew I thought I might as well send the lot > The order of things is.
