From the hand written entry in our Gilchrist Family Bible she is my GG Grandmother. I can tell you she was born as you already know in Broughton in 1803 she married David Gilchrist in 1823. She died 25 July 1849 at 7.30 pm leaving seven sons and three daughters. She lies in Kilbucho churchyard. The youngest daughter was Marion Gilchrist born July 11th. 1849 so she was only 14 days old when her mother died. Marion died November 14th 1916 aged 66. My link is through David and Marion. Their son Thomasis my G Grandfather who left Scotland travelling South to eventually settle in London. I hope this information is helpful I can expand the Gilchrist side further if this helps.

The death certificate will name both parents, and, combining bthat with the parish of birth derived from the census, you should be able to identify their baptismal record in either the IGI/familysearch.org, or scotlandspeople websites. The marriage should also be easily identifiable one you have the names from the death certificate. Another method is to locate a gravestone inscription that gives the death dates of the couple, and go on from their to the death certificates. Happy hunting! Gordon Johnson.

    1. [SCT-PEEBLES-SHIRE] genealogical index to Peebles burgh records to 1710
    2. Gordon Johnson
    3. This is to announce that my latest genealogical index has been put online at my website <www.kinhelp.co.uk>. It is - Genealogical Index to "Charters and documents relating to the Burgh of Peebles, with extracts from the records of the burgh. A.D.1165-1710". [note: burgh minutes begin in the year 1456]. There are other indexes to important Scottish local records already there, all free to use if you have access to the books I have indexed. These volumes have either had no index in the book, or a very poor one concentrating on the "important" people. These new indexes cover EVERYBODY, and are massive. If you have no access to the books, I can provide photocopies of the pages of interest to you, at a small charge (listed at the start of each index). Happy hunting! Gordon Johnson.
