In the IGI, there is a Marey Steven born in Traquair 1796. Her father was John, as was my Elizabeth (no mothers name given). When you follow up Mary, I'd be interested to know if there is a match. I've looked at the Thomas you refer to in scotlands people site and see that his father was John Hope and mother Agnes Wilkie. My Thomas' father was Thomas. Hi There is a farm outside Eddleston called Shiplaw. It is also a gravel quarry nowadays. It is off the Edinburgh Peebles road, left as you are going toward Edinburgh, about 3 miles from Eddleston Alas it did not show up in the Multimap.
