Hi, Sandy-- I haven't seen the Sproat material online. The compilations I examined at the Dumfries & Galloway Family History Center in Dumfries were reproduced by,if I recall correctly, mimeograph or ditto machine. Likewise, noticing the Sproat name in Girthon was either by seeing it on grave markers or in passing while looking for other names in various paper (that is, not online) publications at the Family History Center or the Gatehouse of Fleet public library. Because it was not a name of particular interest to me, I did not take any notes on where I saw it. About 1880, George Gordon Byron Sproat and his family succeeded my McMiken family as tenants at the High Creoch farm just north of Gatehouse on the road to Laurieston. I know a little about that Sproat family if you think you might be connected to them. Cheers.
