    3. Hello Marg, I have noticed that some entries in the Parish books have been missed by the persons who did the extractions but not because they were "natural born" or "legally born" in marriage. I have done a lot of research of Scottish records as my Dempster family came to America in 1841. The Dempster's were in Kirkcudbrightshire very early and went to Straiton in Ayrshire after that and finally to Dalrymple in Ayrshire. I have Templeton's, Muir's and others. I have found records that were not in the index but were in the Parish books of both natural & legally born children.
