Hi Can anyone tell me whether the Parish of Girthon still exists, and if so, which towns it incorporates. I have on a marriage certificate, that the bride and groom in question resided in Gatehouse of Fleet but were registered in the Parish of Girthon. How are they connected? The persons in question are: Thomas JOHNSTONE - parents Janet EWINS and Gordon JOHNSTON - (with no 'e') Grace RIDDICK - parents Elizabeth Templeton and James RIDDICK. They were married in 1861 at the United Presbyterian Church. If anyone recognises any of this or knows the answer to the above, I would be very grateful for your help. Many thanks Victoria Germain
