Hallo All I am a new subscriber - I live in South Africa - and have for some while been looking for the ancestors of my GGrandfather Samuel Scott. I do not know much about his life in Scotland other that the fact that he was born about 1840 and that he declared on his emigration that he was from Dumfries. He had two brothers William and Robert and a sister Mirran (or Marion). A cousin of Samuel, Isabella Scott was married to a SWAN and the only combination I could find of these names was a couple John SWAN married to Isabella Scott in Colvend. Today I found a picture sent by a cousin of Samuel of the Port 'o Warren coastal village with a note that said "this was the area where your grandfather lived as a boy". Is there anybody on the list who has an interest in either the SCOTT or the SWAN families of the Colvend/Port 'o Warren Area? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
