    3. Dear Joy, Firstly: Find Kirkcudbright on any good Road Map of the South of Scotland. Secondly: travel North from Kirkcudbright on the A711 for a short distance until you come to a "Y" junction To Left is A762, A711 continues to right.Almost immediately is TONGLAND. The A762 goes through to NEW Galloway, Laurieston is about halfway between Kirkcudbright and New Galloway and straddles the Junction of the A762 and the B795. Further Info= in the Kirkcudbright MIs(Gravestone Inscriptions) there is in Tongland Graveyard a Lair which includes the following : as part of inscripton on the Headstone:-Sis Mary died Laurieston 8:7:1856 aged 69years (husband Aex Millar). This is in KKD MIs Vol 5. There are many other "MILLAR"in the area but the one I have quoted is the most relevant. As the death is after 1854, you should be able to obtain the Death Certificate from:- Dumfries & Galloway Council, Office of the Chief Executive,Chief Registrar:Miss Gerry Lynch,Registration Office,Municipal Chambers,Buccleuch Street,Dumfries.DG1 2AD, SCOTLAND. Costs about £13 ie £5 for search and £8 Cert. (May have changed) If I can be of further help do let me know. 3. James You are Fantastic. I will write off for the certificate this very afternoon. I've just arranged my very first visit to an LDS centre - having only just discovered I am fortunate to have one less than a mile away (Just never thought there would be one tucked away in this rural area of the Forest of Dean Gloucestershire so I hadnt looked.) My first action will be to order in any Kirkudbright films they have and then hopefully the family will appear at my finger tips. Well I can always hope. I do wish my father were still alive now I am actually getting somewhere with his family. He was so proud of his 'fraction' of Scottish ancestry - which he thought was 1/8 but i've now found to be slightly more - 3/16th - and had done really well in the few years he spent researching given that it was all manual - non computer. He may not have got very far back but without the data he had gathered I would still be working in the late 1800s instead of th earlies. Thanks again.
