Hi Joy If you have time, could you see if there is a David Clark, spirit dealer, either around Balmaghie or Dalry? (In the 1881 census his son Robert gave his place of birth as Dalry, Kirkcudbrightshire, so he must have spent some time there.) Also the grandfather David Clark of Slogarie, parish of Balmaghie - was he a farmer?
