Hallo All I had an early christmas present when Joy Salt found an MI for me in Dalbeattie for a long lost link in my search for the parents of a Samuel SCOTT. Isabella SWAN born SCOTT, the sister of my Samuel SCOTT's father was buried in Dalbeattie and because of that connection I found Isabella's record in the 1881 census which gave her birthplace as Ruthwell. In the LDS IGI I found a likely set of parents and a birth date for Isabella - her mother being Elizabeth McJore x Robert Scott. Now I can get to my question - is the McJore surname a variation of the Mc George surname found in Kircudbright ? Is there anybody on one of the lists who researches either the McJore/McGeorge or the Scott surname with RUTHWELL links? Any guidance would be appreciated.
