I found the birth of another child for John & Mary. When I checked the 1881 census, the only Jane Johnstone with the correct age and place of birth was the stepdaughter of William Scott. So I checked and found a marriage for Mary McKill to William Scott. It seems that both John Sr & Jr were dead by 1872.
