Hi Jill & list, Jill, I think you might be onto something here as I remember looking at my grandfather's, (Robert JOHNSTONE) birthday book many years ago and I noted that he had many GORDON names listed under certain months but no dates! Also was excited to see the Mary JOHNSTONE you had listed 1811-1851 that married Thomas GORDON, as I have a Mary JOHNSTONE b.April 16/1811 d.August 6/1851, thinking this must be the same Mary! Mary is my gr. gr. aunt from Dumfries, her parents being Christopher JOHNSTONE b. 1776 Dumfries & Winifred Maxwell GRAINGER b. 1784 (my 3rd. great grandparents). Mary had 8 other siblings; James JOHNSTONE b. 1807 Dumfries d. Jan.5/1808 Sibella Grainger JOHNSTONE b.June 7/1809 Dumfries, m. James WALKER in 1833, d.Sept.6/1870 Mary JOHNSTONE b.April 16/1811 d. Aug.6/1851 Robert JOHNSTONE b.Jan.10/1813 Dumfries (printer), m. Letitia Shore CHUBB in 1837 Howden, Yorkshire Anderina JOHNSTONE b. Jan.31/1815 d. June 9/1869 Agnes JOHNSTONE b.Nov.9/1816 d. Oct.5/1860 Henry JOHNSTONE b.Nov.14/1818 d. Sept.21/1867 London Thomas JOHNSTONE b. Feb.14/1822 d. Oct.31/1859 Winifred JOHNSTONE b. Jan.3/1825 d. Aug.1/1837 Like to figure out the GORDON connection since Mary's sister Sibella named her son Thomas Gordon Walker? Any ideas? Love to hear more!
