Jamacia D 1896 Melbourne Australia THEY CAME TO AUSTRALIA AROUND 1840 My relative 9th child Henry Alfred Wilkinson Rigg B 1//11/1866 WA married a Julie/a Anderson 22.4.1892 at Broken Hill NSW. henry died 19/6/1939 Elwood Victoria OTHER KNOWN CHILDREN WERE Grace ? born in Scotland prior to 1840 married a W Plummer (b Norfolkshire 1864) Isabella ?born Australia married a W Haberecht 1874 NSW William Doug ?born Anna or Anne ?born married W Symington (b Sanguhar Dumfries) in 1872 Herbert Thomas ?born married a Mary McNie 1888 Victoria Australia NB I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE NAMES OF THE OTHER CHILDREN John lived at "Highbanks" as a child. His father was James Rigg (lived at "Highbanks") birthdate unknown but 1770-80 in Kirkcudbrghtshre 1st wife was a Margaret Brackenridge died at age of 24 (15/3/1794) buried at Kirckchrist Churchyard Twynholm. They could have had a son james in 1792 ? His second wife was Grizzel (Grace) Taggart ?McTaggart born Borgue 26/2/1767 married 15/10/1796 Twynholm James died 16/1/1841 and was buried in the same churchyard as both his wives. Grace died 9/7/1837 Their children were : Sarah B1797 Twynholm Margaret B 14/4/1799 Twynholm Mary Herriot B19/4/1801 Twynholm married a Malcolm Mcinnes 1847 at geelong Australia died Twynholm 1879 buried at the same churchyard as James Grace and Margaret Rigg Kathrine B 3/2/1803 Twynholm John B 8/1/1805 Twynholm - my ancestor Anna B26/4/1807 Twynholm Grace B14/7/1809 Twynholm William B 18/4/1813 Twynholm James Rigg's second wife Grace Taggart's father was John Tagart (Spelt differently on his wedding entry) he married Sarrah Rain at Borgue on 9/11/1758 John Tagart died 9/2/1815 at Borgue and Sarrah Rain died 16/1/1792 also at Borgue - It is assumed that John was born 1737 and Sarrah 1728. THE KNOWN CHILDREN OF JOHN TAGART AND SARRAH RAIN WERE David B 11/9/1759 All children born at Borgue John B 17/3/1761 Nicholas (a girl) B 16/6/1763 Grizzel or Grace B 26/2/1767 - my ancestor Thomas B 24/10/1770 On the records the possible parents of John could be Patrick Taggart and Jannet McIntyre but the birthdate appears a little early at 24/1/1734 Killin Perth. The Rigg family were true pioneers of Australia arriving in 1840's. My grandmother Ethel Mary Rigg was the daughter of Henry Alfred Rigg born after the family came here.
