    3. hi i have aitkens as well im trying to find and info on any of the following lines, willing to share what i have thanks in advance andrea William Aitken,a weaver by trade, born about 1744) died Dec.5,1824,and a Jannet Clark. We have no record of their marriage, but in the parish register of 1760"l8l9 of Kirkguzion parish, county kirkcudbright the following baptisms are recorded; 13 March 1770 George Aitken, lawful son to William Aitken,a weaver, and a Jannet Clark.in Cowans.George Aitken remained unmarried and died in l824 at age 52 (no other info on him) 30 March 1772 Jean Aitken, lawful daughter to William Aitken,a weaver, and a Jannet Clark ,in Breconside.Jean Aitken must have lived nearby. 20 March 1775 Robert Aitken, lawful son to William Aitken,a weaver, and a Jannet Clark ,in Breconside. 1 Sept.1777 Jannet Aitken, lawful daughter to William Aitken,a weaver, and a Jannet Clark ,in Breconside.Jannet Aitken, ,married our Robert Mcleod.(my ancestors),3rd January,1799,they had eight children between 1799-1815 when they came to nova scotia.the baptism,on Sept.2,1768,James Maxwell, natural son of Thomas Maxwell and Mary Holiday. marriage proclamation,of 29th April,1775 that William Clouden and Mary Holiday were married at Old Clouden farm. Thus we see that Mary Holiday had a son James Maxwell by an out-of-wedlock relationship with one Thomas Maxwell Robert Clouden(Mcleod) was born the following year on Jan,19,1774 making him the first child of this marriage there is no other know children of william and mary any info would help. 12 Dec.1782 Elizabeth Aitken, lawful daughter to William Aitken,a weaver, and a Jannet Clark ,in Breconside.Elizabeth Aitken married a Thomas Dougan. 6 May 1785 Mary Aitken lawful daughter to William Aitken,a weaver, and a Jannet Clark ,in Breconside.Mary Aitken married a William Dornan. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kristie Phillips" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 4:34 PM Subject: Margaret Aitken of Kilmarnock, Ayr > Looking for the parents of Margaret Aitken: > > > > 1 Margaret AITKEN b: Abt. 1771 > > > .. + Alexander MUIR m: 10 October 1791 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, > Scotland > > ........ 2 Sarah Muir b: 11 February 1792 > d: Bef. 2. Erica Johnson
    3. Hi Corkette Was going through a mass of e-mail in my inbox from the Kirkcudbright list and got this info for you, hope you still need it! 1851 Census Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire, Enumeration district 10, Place: 14 Harbour Street, Creetown. Samuel Vernon, head of household, married, aged 48, Trade: a Sawyer, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Jean Vernon, wife, married, aged 47, born Wigtown, Wigtownshire. Marion Vernon, daughter, aged 11, at home, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. William Vernon, son, aged 9, at home, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Jane Vernon, daughter, aged 6, Scholar, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Alexander Vernon, son, aged 4, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Also in the 1851 Census Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire, Enumeration district 10, Place: 7 Bells Wynd, Creetown. Mary Vernon, head of household, married, aged 47, born England. Adam Vernon, son, unmarried, aged 16, Trade: Sailor, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Alexander Vernon, son, aged 13, Scholar, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. John Vernon, son, aged 10, Scholar, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Ann Vernon, daughter, aged 4, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. And in the 1851 Census Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire, Enumeration district 9, Place: 3 St John's Street, Creetown. Alexander Vernon, head of household, married, aged 32, Trade: Stonemason, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Elizabeth Vernon, wife, married, aged 20, wife of Stonemason, born Wigtown Wigtownshire. Alexander Vernon, son, aged 3, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Jannet Vernon, daughter, aged 7 months, born Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. Probably all related, they are the only Vernons in the 1851 Kirkmabreck Census. There are only three others in all of the 1851 Census for all of Kirkcudbrightshire: Parish of Kirkcudbright, High Street, Kirkcudbright, Isabella Vernon, head of household, unmarried, aged 35, Trade: Laundress, born Creetown, Kirkcudbrightshire. Parish of Minnigaffe, Cree Bridge, household of John Walker: Mary Vernon, unmarried aged 16, General Servant, born Newton Stewart, Kirkcudbrightshire. Parish of Kelton, King Street, Castle Douglas, Jannet Vernon, daughter of Joseph Campbell, widow, aged 38, Trade: Seamstress, born Kelton, Kirkcudbrightshire. As there are so few Vernons it is likely that they will al be related somehow. Hope this helps, Regards, Erica Johnson. ----- Original Message ----- From: Corkette <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, November 07, 2001 6:56 PM Subject: Kirkmabreck 1851-1861 census? > HELP!!! 1. RE: [SCOT-DNA] Test Kits?
    2. John A Hansen
    3. Dear Grant: I was looking thorugh the surname list of those that have already registered for DNA testing. I find one with a Ross Surname interest. I have copied both the Clan Ross mailing list and the Ross surname mailing list to see if there is any interest in more Ross descendants to start testing or if there is already a group underway. There is a lot of work being done on getting data to convert the marker and allele results from one lab to be compatible with scores from another lab. So in that case, it wouldn't matter which Lab does the work. We chose GeneTree due to the higher number of markers and the specific markers used seemed to be in line with the markers that would be able to identify the Scottish ancestry;. As you know the 4 main groups in Scottish ancestry ( Celts, Picts etc) had unique markers and we tried to take that into consideration. In Addition, Genetree is affilliated with Relative Genetics and the BYU study so I felt that this gave access to a wider range of prospective matches in Scottish Clans. That was also one reason, that we encouraged the study of the MtDNA ( females) so that this data could also contribute to possible relationships between the Clans &Families. Hope this answeres your questions. Best Regards John A Hansen > -----Original Message----- > From: Grant South [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Sunday, April 14, 2002 12:53 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [SCOT-DNA] Test Kits? > > > Och Bill, > > I did step one on the 11th and again on the 13th, but I am still > to received > my reply, per the Scots DNA study. > And I am now a'waiting the issue of my confirmation number. > I thought it would be sooner than later. > > Thank you for sending me the information. > Slainte! > Grant. > Ps.
