    3. Dear Victoria, The Stewartry Museum in Kirkcudbright (curator David Devereux) has the 1841 census and apparently they'll do lookups. Otherwise, you can order the censuses through the LDS libraries. 1. Looking for Partin/Hayle
    2. Hi, I am new to this list. I am looking for parents, siblings, relatives and/or any information about RobertPartin and his wife Margarett Hayle Partin. I have read that they are of Scottish background, but were born in England in 1587/1588; marriage place and date unknown. Robert Partin left for English colonies on the ship Blessing in 1609; Margarett Hayle Partin followed on the ship George in1617. A servant, Thomas Hale came with Margaret when she sailed. I am not sure if he is related with a variation in spelling or just a similar surname. This is the first Robert PARTIN to settle in the English colonies. The family is well documented after Robert and Margarette settled in US. I have that information. I am interested in information on this family and other 's with same surname BEFORE saling and settlement in the American colonies. I have searched Ancestry.com and Scots and English Origins.net and with some kind help have England's 2001 Electoral Directory listing on all Parton, Partin and Hayle surnames and addresses. The information found in LDS data is information on the family after they settled in the American colonies. Any information, clues or knowledge of other's who have searched PARTIN, PARTON, and HAYLE surnames before 1609 and in locations other than the United States would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Rose Partin [email protected] (Michigan, USA)

    1. HOOD
    2. Found the following data on the IGI and the Buittle, KKD website (address below). IGI James HOOD Sex: M Marriage(s): Spouse: Marion FALLS Marriage: 3 Feb 1809 Buittle, Kirkcudbright, Scotland OPR 3-Feb 1809 James Hood (Corbietoun) married Marian Falls (Buittle Mains) http://www.buittle.freeserve.co.uk/ I didn't find any other Hood or Falls entries in Buittle. There were marriages for a John and William Hood in Dumfries, Dumfrieshire in the mid-1830's. But there seems to have been an earlier Hood family in the area. The 1881 census shows a James Hood born abt 1805 in Kirkgunzeon, but nothing for Scotland for James or William with the correct birth year. As for the location of Dykeside and Milncroft, go to the map site below. The lower right map quarter shows a long hill formation with two smaller ones at the north end. Go west from the southern most small hill, past another small hill to the flat area. Click there and follow the directions at the top of the screen for zooming (or just keep clicking on the area) and panning. This is modern Kirkgunzeon area of the old Kirkgunzeon Parish. You will see Dykeside marked and just northerly of that on a spur is marked a Mill. http://www.nls.uk/digitallibrary/map/early/637.html

    1. CAREFUL OF TELEPHONE CALLERS
    2. raypitts
    3. Hi Listers I have just received some information which will assist Australian members. If someone rings up saying they are a technician and are testing your line - be careful If they ask you to press 90# - DONT. This will give them access to your telephone and they can use it for long distance calls etc. A lot of this scam is coming from the prisons. This information has come from a reliable family member. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Regards to everyone. Pat Australia
