Hello Emma and Janet, I am also very interested in Fordoun and visited there last September. My ancestors with connections to Fordoun are: David Murray who married Elizabeth Alexander in 1783 and then Catherine Edward in 1788. His son James Murray b 1789. He married Jean Christie in Garvock in 1815 but they had two sons, George and Wiiliam in Fordoun and a daughter, Mary, in Arbuthnott. Charlotte Lyall b 1797. Her parents John Lyall and Isobell Ross married there in 1791. Any connections. You presumably know Lewis Grassic Gibbon's novels were set in the area. Yours Jim Murray

No obvious connection, Janet, but it may emerge at some future stage. Yours Jim Murray
