He married Betty Sherat in Fordoun in 1830 and was listed in the register as being of Fettercairn at that time. In the 1841 census his occupation was labourer and spirit dealer, ( i know there was a distillery at Fettercairn in the 1860's but am not sure about before that), anyway my problem is that i have so far been unable to identify David's birth and therefore do not know who his parents may have been. His eldest son was named William and his eldest daughter was Anne. As his wife's parents were John And Beattie, I wondered if william and Anne may give a clue as to his parents? Help!!, any info./suggestions would be greatly appreciated, > > Carl Christie > Hello Carl, Do you know when David died? Civil registration began in Scotland in 1855. The death certificate would list his parents names. In 1855 (the only year) the death certificate also listed the place of burial and all children and their ages, and if they were deceased..the year they died....a real bonus. Good luck, Linda in Saskatchewan
