Hello Everyone I'm a newcomer to this list but have been lurking about on the Aberdeen, Angus, Banff and Midlothian lists for some time now. I'd like to introduce my Kincardine ancestry in the hopes that SKS can give me a hand in finding out more about them. In Fordoun, I am searching for information on ELIZABETH LEY b circa 1785 presumably in Fordoun. In 1813 she married WILLIAM HADDAN, blacksmith, with banns being recorded in Brechin and Montrose. The couple moved on to Easter Braikie, Kinnell where they had two children, ELIZABETH dying a week after her second child was born. The OPRs in Kinnell indicate that she was buried in Fordoun. Are the MIs of Fordoun published, and if so, is there any chance there is an MI for ELIZABETH or her (as yet unidentified) parents or relatives? Could someone provide any direction in searching for ELIZABETH's parents? The other individuals I am searching for (this time in St Cyrus) are ALEXANDER PAXTON, his wife, MARGARET LAW, children, ELIZABETH b c 1797 and JANE b 1803. I have OPR transcriptions of ALEXANDER and MARGARET's marriage banns and JANE's baptism record but there is no record of ELIZABETH's baptism. This family moved on to Logie Pert and had several more children 1804-1811. I believe there may be a Communicants List from the late 1700s that might confirm that ELIZABETH is indeed part of this family. Does anybody have access to the Communicants List of which I speak or any other items that might assist me? Any assistance anyone can provide me in learning a little more about these elusive ancestors of mine will be greatly appreciated.
