Greetings. I am a descendant (Grandson) of Margaret Alice Brown (b. 05/March/1899; Lindsayfield, Dunnottar, Kincardine, Scotland). She is the sister of Jessie, Alexander, Norman Douglas, David, Eva, Harry, Bessie, Charlotte, Robert and Ive Brown. Their parents were Alexander Brown (b. 01/Feb/1867; Bogside Parish, Fordun, Kincardine, Scotland) and Jessie Main Donald (b. 20/June/1873; Fetteresso, Kincardine, Scotland). His parents were David Brown (b. 24/Aug/1823) and Jane Allan (b. 15/Jan/1826). Her parents were James Donald (b. 20/May/1835; Fetteresso, Kincardine, Scotland) and Margaret Lawson (b. abt. 1837). The surnames of families before all of these are Crab (Crabb), Gray, Lawson, Browster, Gauld, Johnston, Allan, Wright, Shearer, Limond and Henry. Margaret Alice Brown married William Tankard Bell from Midlothian. My Grandfather was a William Tankard Bell (b. 23/Oct/1866, d. 18/Aug/1945), however his original name in Edinburgh, Edinburgh Parish, Midlothian, Scotland was William Bell Tankard. His father and mother were William Tankard Sr. (b. abt. 1845, d. abt. 1872) & Eliza Bell. His sisters were Sarah Jane Scott Tankard and Catherine Duncan Tankard. William Tankard Bell came to Canada; a short time in Montreal, then to Watford, Ontario (about 1883/84) and finally, until his death lived in Port Stanley, Ontario. William Tankard Sr.'s parents were William (John) Tankard and Sarah Scott. Sarah Scott eventually was married a 2nd time to a Joseph Jarvie. Sarah Scott's parents were John Scott & Ann Gardner. Sarah & Joseph Jarvie had a son John. John Jarvie eventually married Eliza Bell when William Tankard died. Eliza Bell was the daughter of William (John??) Bell & Mary Ann Chisholm. William (John) Tankard was the son of unknown?? William (John) Tankard was a mariner. Prior to showing up in Scotland in about 1840, there appears to be no other Tankards in Scotland.
