Dear List, I've been really stuck for years now on my Fotheringham ancestors. Helen Fotheringham was born at Townhead, Arbuthnott, Kincardineshire on 1st October 1839 to James and Mary Fotheringham. Family legend says her mother Mary Fotheringham (nee Allan) died within a couple of years of Helen's birth but I can find nothing in any logical search. Does anyone have access to burial records or anything else they thik might help? Also does anyone know who this Allan or Allen family was? Thanks in advance. Fiona

Hello Fiona I also am looking at the Fotheringhams in Kincardine. I found your Helen and also her parents' marriage, i.e. Saturday, 23 December 1837. There did not appear to be any siblings born in Kincardine. Unfortunately the marriage notice did not give any further information. I will try to check the birth of Mary Allan in Kincardine at some other time.
