Hi Listers I am new to the list and have just started reseaching the MEARNS side of my family. My Grandfather DAVID JAMES MEARNS was born in this area and arrived in Liverpool in approx 1869 and raised a family of 9 children before his death there in 1884 aged 51.His wife is named HELEN. I am currently looking at: DAVID MEARNS m HELEN REID Chapel of Garioch 1853. DAVID MEARNS m HELEN SHERRAT Benholm 1852. Can anyone help with any details relating to these marriages ? or any other information that may be helpful Also can anyone give me a little background as to how the area was called THE MEARNS.
