    1. JOHN BOOTH FROM ABERDEEN???
    2. I am trying to track down my ggg grandfather John Booth who has proven to be very elusive in various records. Needless to say I have no record of his birth or death. I know he was "of Banchory" when he married Elspeth Miller of "Old Machar" on 21 Jan 1823 when she was 44 yrs old. They had two sons Gordon (b11 Oct 1829 d1896 and Alexander b13 Sept 1826 d11 Feb 1910) when they lived in Holburn Street Aberdeen according to a family records. The 1861 census shows Elspeth (born at Bellie nr Elgin)as head living with George(tailor) at 106 George Street Aberdeen but no John. Elspeth died a widow on 8 Nov 1862 whilst living at the same address - her death notification shows her as widow of John Booth, seaman, the first ever reference to seaman. Previously on the birth notifications he had been a "labourer journeyman" There is no trace of the family in the 1861 or 1851 census at either address. Where could the family have been between 1829 when they were last recorded at Holborn street and 1861 census at George Street. All the records handed down from my grandfather (Alexander Stalker Booth)and great-grandfather John Booth have all proven accurate in all respects but neither of them have recorded any facts about their father/gfather "the elusive John Booth" Can anyone help or advise where I might start searching as I am stuck without his details many thanks Roger
