I have not posted for some time and I have made some progress since the last posting - so here goes. James CAIRD and Ann HARRIS/HERRIES married 9 Jul 1774 Fordoun. Their marriage extract reads " In the OPR for the Parish of Conveth there is the following entry for the date of 12th June 1774 James CAIRD in this Parish and Ann HERES in the Parish of Fordoun listed there names in order to marriage and their Banns being regularly proclaimed in the Church were married the Ninth of July " James CAIRD is of Pitnamoon, Fordoun at the baptism of his son James. Ann's parents are William HARRIS and Janet GUTHRIE and a another daughter married a CROW/CRAW. Their son David HARRIS married another CAIRD. William HARRIS is of Odmeston as a witness at the baptism of James CAIRD's daughter Janet, and 2 of his sons are also witnesses at another child of James and Ann - David HARRIS is of Meikle Carnbeg and his brother John HARRIS is of Odmeston. There seems to be much intermarrying between families but I have not yet proved a link in the two CAIRD marriages.
